We’re asking: what actually is a London Irish Story?

How does that mix with everything else which makes you, YOU?

What is London Irish Stories?

London Irish Stories is a community-led mixed-media project collecting and celebrating the diverse stories of Irish people in London.
Looking at what makes us different and what unites us too.

Whose stories are you telling?

In short –  anyone who has a connection to both Ireland and London. The rich stories of London’s large, multi-generational Irish community.

From those who sailed to Britain in the mid-20th century, to those who arrived on a Ryanair flight. From second and third-generation, born in London, who still strongly connect with their Irish roots, to those who ‘Irish’ is just another aspect of the many cultural elements that make up their family’s story.

Even to those with no connection through heritage, but are avid Irish dancers or Gaelic footballers anyway!

Why are you doing this?

To open up and explore what this identity covers, to move away from tired stereotypes and document the real lived experiences of the individuals the words ‘London Irish Stories’ can cover.

From being ‘Irish and gay’, ‘Irish and English’, ‘Irish and Caribbean’, ‘Irish and a Londoner’, this project will be about exploring the community’s past, present, and future - through their own words.

How can I get involved?

Read, enjoy, and share our stories!
